A one-page position paper for each topic with a works cited is required to be eligible for awards
As implied by its name, a position paper is a written document prepared before a conference outlining your position on the topic(s) that will be addressed by the committee. Position papers should be about one page in length per topic, single-spaced with 12 pt. font. An additional works cited page should be included for each topic's position paper.
The foundation of all good position papers is good research. Collecting relevant and valuable research is imperative once positions, committees, and topics have been assigned for a conference. In writing a position paper, there are three main items that need to be included: the relevant historical background on the topic, what, if anything, your position is doing currently with regards to the topic, and what your position proposes to do in the future (or, at the conference) to deal with the problem. Position papers are required for award eligibility in every committee.
